Makestry

For product and sourcing leads buying small batches of CNC parts in the UK

A supplier shortlist that shows how each fact is known

Makestry is a shortlist tool for small-batch CNC milling and turning in the UK. You describe the part in three answers and see which suppliers on record are stated to offer the process, each fact with its source, its date and a label saying how it is known.

The suppliers in it are invented to test the software. They are not real companies.

Leave out drawings and anything confidential. Mail to this address goes to the project inbox and is read there. A reply may be written with the help of software.

Where it stands

  • The brief form and the shortlist page work, with invented suppliers, so you can see the shape of a shortlist.
  • On 11 October 2026 we read the websites of ten UK CNC companies. They stated 51 of the 110 facts we look for, all self-reported and none with a date a reader can see.
  • Three UK suppliers are being asked by email on 12 October 2026 for facts their pages leave out. No answer has come back, and no real supplier is in the records.
  • No buyer has been asked whether this is worth having. Finding a UK CNC shop is already free elsewhere; what Makestry is meant to add is the source, the date and the label on each fact.
  • Nothing is for sale. No customers.

How a shortlist is made

You describe the part
Three answers: whether you are buying or supplying, the process and the region. Material and batch size are optional, and each adds a column.
We list who is stated to offer it
Suppliers on record for that process, in alphabetical order. The order is not a ranking, and no supplier paid to appear.
Gaps are shown as gaps
A supplier we hold no information on for that process is listed separately. It is not left out and not counted as a no.
You take the table with you
The shortlist downloads as a file with every label and source, to compare against your own contact list.

What each label means

Confirmed
We checked it with the supplier, on the date shown.
Self-reported
The supplier said so. Nobody checked.
Needs reconfirming
It was true on the date shown and has not been checked since. Ask before relying on it.
Unknown
We have no information. It does not mean no.

What a shortlist is not

A self-reported fact is not a certification. Nothing on a shortlist is a promise of quality, capacity, price or delivery.

The records cover CNC milling and turning in small batches from suppliers in the UK. For anything else we hold no checked records and show nothing. A supplier missing from a shortlist has not been judged.

Do not enter drawings, part numbers or anything confidential. We ask for no email address and send nothing; the shortlist opens on a private page.
